The Ontario Regional Championship Hosts (TORCH) are hosting the prestigious 2008 Agility Association of Canada (AAC) Ontario Regional Agility Championship on May 23rd to 25th, 2008 at the Ilderton Fairgrounds near London , Ontario . Sponsorship is the key to the success of this volunteer-driven, non-profit event.
Traditionally this event is hosted by different AAC approved committees and we are proud to be hosting this large 3-day event in 2008. As participation is expected to exceed 400 dog/handler teams, the success of this event is contingent on our large volunteer base. An event of this caliber will showcase amazing canine athletes and their human partners as they run for the placements and ribbons and a chance to qualify for the 2008 AAC National Championship.
Dog agility in Canada has been experiencing exponential growth from its early beginnings in the late 1980’s. This is a sport that attracts people from all walks of life with varied backgrounds. The sport encompasses all age groups from our youngest Junior Handlers to our Senior Citizens. Agility promotes a healthy and active lifestyle, coupled with responsible dog ownership. Coverage by television networks, such as Outdoor Life and Animal Planet, along with various newspaper articles increases the popularity of dog agility. It is rapidly becoming a familiar and exciting spectator sport.
Collectively, we have a wealth of experience as participants and volunteers at the many Agility trials held throughout Ontario , including previous Regional and National Championships.
